The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 24 January as International Day of Education, in celebration of the role of education for peace and development. The third International Day of Education will be marked on Monday 25 January 2021 under the theme ‘Recover and Revitalize Education for the COVID-19 Generation’. As countries continue to grapple with the effects of the COVID-19 virus, education for many learners has been disrupted, revealing the glaring inequalities that exist in our education systems. Despite this, we have been granted an opportunity to become innovative and improve our education systems. Let us reflect on the value of education and unite to ensure that no child is left behind.
